Release Αnnouncement: Tablet L10
Zebra is pleased to announce the introduction of the L10 Android rugged tablet. The L10 Android is an extremely rugged 10.1” tablet, ideal for mission critical professionals, that is highly configurable to fit the needs of the user and the work environment.

The L10 Android is available in the XSLATE, XPAD and XBOOK form factors. XSLATE is the traditional sleek and lightweight tablet form factor, and the XPAD incorporates a rigid handle for added grip and comfort with the ability to include a barcode scan engine for fast and accurate data acquisition. XBOOK combines the mobility and functionality of the XSLATE tablet with a rugged backlit Companion Keyboard and “KickStrap” to enable mobile users to more easily enter long form data.

The L10 Android is a product extension of the existing L10 Windows product family. L10 Android is built to the same level of durability as the Windows version, but with the features of the Zebra Android platform included: Mobility DNA, Lifeguard, and the Zebra standard of support and care.

The majority of the L10 Windows accessories are compatible with the L10 Android. This includes the industrial dock, batteries, straps and cases. A new, more rugged keyboard will be backwards compatible with the L10 Windows units also. The office dock is not compatible with the L10 Android. Additionally, the integrated optional Smart Card / CAC readers are not compatible with the L10 Android.

The L10 Android leverages a common platform with many other Zebra Mobile Computing offerings such as the TC77 and TC57. This enables our Customers and Partners to leverage investments made in previous deployments. The current software is unique to the L10 Android until ATT and Verizon carrier approvals are obtained. The current software is not compatible with other Zebra devices. Additionally, LifeGuard™ for Android™ support will be enabled via the new software.

Finally, the L10 will be upgradeable to Android Pie, and at least one further version. As the world’s largest supplier of rugged Android devices, Zebra has substantial experience working with Android, including upgrades, support and optimization. That experience is now being used in the L10 tablet line.
